I believe that therapy is, among other things, a relationship in which two people share the goal of better understanding the aspirations and difficulties that impede a person's ability to becoming his or her true, authentic self. When there is trust and cooperation, clients are able to discover aspects of themselves they did not know were there and to achieve more productive and satisfying lives.
I initially studied English literature and a number of years later, obtained a masters degree in psychology and a MSW from NYU. I studied for two years at a psychoanalytic institute run by my supervisor, psychiatrist Robert Langs. I have worked in a number of areas, beginning with clients who suffered from substance use issues and then worked at the Center for the Study of Anorexia and Bulimia.

I believe therapy is a journey of healing, growth, learning, and unlearning. Throughout our journey together, I take a compassionate and personalized approach, using a mix of techniques including Person-Centered Therapy (PCT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). My goal is to create a safe, open space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to make positive changes at your own pace.
My experience includes working with children, adolescents, and adults—both individually and in couples and family settings—helping them navigate challenges like anxiety, depression, self-esteem concerns, relationship issues, and family dynamics. Informed by my multicultural background as a Pakistani woman, I’m also deeply passionate about supporting South Asian communities and addressing the unique cultural and identity concerns faced by immigrant groups.
