RSVPThough music is a worldwide form of expression that has been embraced by diverse cultures and age groups for millennia to support wellness and healing, it has only recently been recognized as a “formal” strategy that can be integrated into mental health services. Music-based interventions draw upon “active” (e.g., music-making, beat-making) and “receptive” (e.g., listening and analyzing song lyrics) strategies as a vehicle to facilitate improvements in mental health-related outcomes. This workshop seeks to describe and identify trauma-informed music-based intervention strategies that clinicians can integrate into their practice, which meet youth where they are: on their headphones.
