We are excited to share a new interview with Humantold's Christina Jeffrey and The Lily!

The coronavirus has caused a shift in our interpersonal boundaries—especially when it comes to dating. In her interview, Christina describes how the pandemic has changed the way we get to know people on dates. She says, "questions about the behaviors one finds acceptable in a pandemic, and whether one is vaccinated, tend to dominate the conversation early on."

These first-line questions are meant to help us not only build intimacy but ensure shared values. Christina explains, "Intimacy is ultimately about safety and connection; if a person is not a safe person, it is really hard to develop a good connection."

Strategies For Handling A Toxic Mom

    May 20, 2021 | Bustle

Humantold therapist Rachel Landman sat down with Bustle Magazine to discuss healthy strategies for managing interactions with a toxic mother.

We’re excited to share a recent interview with Humantold’s Rachel Landman and Bustle Magazine!

Having a toxic mother can be a frustrating and disheartening dynamic to navigate, and one that can last a lifetime. The dramatic dynamics with a toxic mom can reinforce unhealthy behaviors of our own that are employed to manage the situations at hand, and can translate to exacerbating those situations or even adopting reciprocal habits into our own practices.

In this article, our own Rachel Landman, LMHC sat down with Bustle Magazine to discuss appropriate scenarios and tactics to help create a better response and ultimately build a healthier and stronger relationship with a toxic mom. As Rachel explains in the interview, it’s important to use appropriate de-escalation tactics to avoid feeling that “you need to caretake your mother’s feelings, as opposed to her being responsible for them herself.”

Of the many challenges that life provides, those involving family can be especially difficult to navigate. This interview delves deeper into why, and outlines helpful guidance. Enjoy!
