The perinatal and postpartum periods, while often viewed through the lens of joy and new beginnings, can also be filled with profound emotional, psychological, and physical challenges. As mental health providers, it is essential to recognize the complexities that come with these transitions. From the hormonal shifts and sleep deprivation to the societal pressures and potential isolation, the experience of becoming a parent can profoundly impact mental health. This workshop will provide a combination of psychoeducation of this human experience, discussions of recommended treatment modalities, and functional strategies to apply in session to help promote confidence and competence for clinicians who are interested in serving this population.
