Neurodivergent Disorders

Historically known as neurodevelopmental disorders, diagnoses under the neurodivergent umbrella are those conditions that show up early in a person’s life, often in childhood, and persist into adulthood. These conditions are largely genetic in nature, so they tend to run in families, and are the result of structural differences in the human brain that impact its functioning.

Some commonly known neurodivergent disorders include Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, and Tourette’s Syndrome.

Due to the neurological and genetic nature of neurodivergent disorders, they will present throughout a person’s lifespan with varying degrees of intensity.

Management of the different symptoms and an enhanced ability to navigate life with success are possible through accurate assessment, therapy: both individual and couples/family therapies when appropriate, and often medication management.

Humantold has several therapists, psychologists, and psychiatric prescribers who can help support and equip the neurodivergent community in embracing their neurodiversity. Check out our options below!
