LGBTQIA+

Pride is more than just a celebration in the month of June. It is an orientation to the world, a relationship with oneself, recognition of a larger community and history, and a part of a greater identity.

At Humantold, we believe in LGBTQIA affirming mental health care and support. Our team of trained therapists works with clients from the queer community to enhance the experience of their journey and equip them with tools to navigate through life successfully. No matter what brings you to our door, we are here to provide culturally sensitive and responsive therapy. Whether working with any of our queer-identifying therapists, or therapists who are LGBTQIA  allies, we are mindful of the various intersections and iterations of identity, and unique perspectives that are woven within the queer experience.

The numbers don’t lie. Recent reports by the Trevor Project and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) highlight the fact that members of the LGBTQIA community report higher levels of mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, and suicidality, as well as substance abuse and misuse behaviors. It’s not surprising that the tasks of daily living get compounded when faced with cultural, legal, racial, and religious prejudice both here and abroad. Understanding that, our therapists and clinicians work with queer-identifying clients to help them achieve their goals and develop coping skills to face whatever comes.

At Humantold, we want to be a force for change in the city and the world through more than platitudes and well-chosen words. Our therapists are regularly trained in best clinical practices when working with gender minorities and queer populations because we mean it when we say we believe in quality mental health care for all. At Humantold: all means all, not just in June.
