Personal Approach
My approach to therapy acknowledges that each individual has unique life experiences that shape the way they view and understand the world. I aim to create a culturally sensitive, individualized space for each client through a variety of approaches such as person-centered, acceptance and commitment, trauma-informed, and strengths-based therapy. I believe empathy and compassion are essential elements in encouraging positive change and in feeling heard.
Professional Background
My experience includes working in individual settings with diverse populations such as children, adults, children of immigrants, and minority communities with a variety of issues ranging from anxiety and depression, relational and self-esteem issues, and life transitions. My background as an Afghan-American woman informs my multicultural, intersectional approach, and I am passionate about being a figure of support for immigrant and refugee communities.
